Exploring the Enneagram’s Pathways Toward Self-Understanding

Week of February 26, 2022

Becoming Your Best Self
The Enneagram is an ancient system of clarifying humanity’s distinct personality types and the complementary relationships between them. The Enneagram is currently experiencing an unprecedented level of interest and practice, particularly with millennials.

Each of the nine different personality types is motivated by a “type perspective” that is invariably somewhat distorted. Each type has its innate ego traits and its innate spiritual traits. These are not in opposition to each other, rather they are the flip sides of “your personality coin.”

We all have four basic human needs: (1)  the need for connection; (2) the need to feel safe and healthy; (3) the need to know who we are; and, (4) the need to experience pleasure. The Enneagram can address all of our needs by helping us discover our gifts, by further clarifying our identity, and, by enhancing our sense of self as we relate to the people in our lives.

Class 1:
The Wizard of Enneagram
The individual quests of three characters in the Wizard of Oz—the Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tinman— are universal. The Enneagram refers to these three centers of being as the gut, the head, and the heart.

Class 2:
What’s My Type?
The Enneagram identifies all of humanity as nine different personality types, each with particular gifts, traits, and desires. Knowing your type provides insights into your behavior and world-view.

Class 3:
It IS All about You
We will use the “narrative tradition” to share our thoughts and questions about the Enneagram. We will gain greater empathy and insights into ourselves, each other, and the whole of humanity.
