Gautam Gandhi - Rancho La Puerta

July 2 – 6, 2022

The Essential Breath

Change Your Breathing, Enhance Your Wellbeing

We breathe about 17,000 – 25,000 times a day. It is such an automatic process that we rarely pay attention to our breath. How we breathe matters, and poor or incorrect breathing can have adverse effects on both the body and the mind. The ancient practice of Pranayama and modern research show us that even simple changes in the way we breathe can produce significant changes in our health and wellbeing.

During the five day retreat, we will have three sessions of 40 minutes each, exploring the following topics:

  • Breath and interconnectedness
  • Breath – Mind connection
  • Addressing poor breathing habits
  • Incorporation of healthy breathing practices into daily life
  • In-class practice of basic breathing exercises that may balance and enhance our Vital Life Energies.

About your hosts:

Gautam Gandhi, M.D.

Gautam is a retired Gastroenterologist with a keen interest in an integrated approach to the practice of medicine. One of his areas of interest is the art and the science of breathing. Most of his knowledge and experience is based on the ancient concept of Pranayama and the more modern interpretations of breath by authors and practitioners like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, James Nestor, Patrick McKeown, Wim Hof and Andrew Weil among others. He intends to make the breathwork accessible to all, including students, athletes, and health practitioners.
