After studying Gastronomy at the Autonomous University of Baja California, Sheyla Alvarado did an internship at Cosme Restaurant in New York, Sud777 in Mexico City, and Mirazur on the French Riviera. At a very young age she became part of the second generation of chefs on the Baja California scene. Under her leadership, Lunario’s menu has evolved since its opening to become one of the most innovative and avant-garde cuisine concepts in the region. Alvarado has earned great respect among the press, colleagues, and customers thanks to her honest commitment to low cuisine. Her cooking has been mentioned by the American Culinary Institute, Condé Nast, and The New York Times. Lunario enters Latin America’s 50 Best list in 2023 Restaurants at number 54, and was awarded a Green Star by the Michelin Guide in 2024.
