Daily Ballet Class with Cecelia Beam and Pianist Billy Wolfe

Join us for a daily class where we will learn and execute classical ballet technique. All classes are accompanied by Pianist Billy Wolfe where we start at the ballet barre with our pliés (a type of meditation that prepares the large muscles) and progress to tendu, and jeté, (movements that focus on feet and lower leg) rond de jambe à terre (hip rotation) and more. After 30 minutes we leave the barre and stand in the center and dance. This is a beginning level ballet class – so all can confidently attend class and experience the joy of dance. Note: if you happen to have a pair of ballet shoes – bring them! Otherwise, socks will work.

What’s your taste in ballet – Classical or Contemporary?
Join us in the screening room as we watch two short romantic pas de deux’s. One choreographed in 1890 and the other in 2005. After we view the pas de deux’s we will discuss how dancers prepare to perform diverse repertoire, what you saw, what you liked and didn’t and if you have a preference.

Evening Concert
Winter Meditations – Compositions and improvisations from ‘Springs,’ Billy Wolfe’s acclaimed album of original piano solos. Evocative of fresh mountain spring water flowing from the earth, listeners will enjoy these meditative, soothing and rejuvenating piano studies during the twilight hours of a midwinter evening.

Afternoon Concert
Vintage Broadway – Original arrangements of classic melodies from the Golden Age of Broadway. Songs by Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Alan Jay Lerner, Harold Arlen, Kurt Weill and others, will provide a lively matinee filled with hummable tunes.

Cecelia Beam trained at two of the most prestigious ballet academies in the United States – School of American Ballet in New York City and North Carolina School of the Arts. After a short performing career, Cecelia turned her attention to teaching ballet to adults and received a master’s degree in Ballet at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington. Cecelia has taught adults in higher education, her own studio and currently at San Francisco Ballet School. Cecelia loves sharing her love of the art form and believes it’s the most fun and beautiful way to honor and challenge one’s mind, body and spirit.

Myofascial Release, Centering Alignment & Corrective Exercise Connection

For decades there has been an epidemic rise in the number of people suffering from common musculoskeletal imbalances that are not caused by an injury. These imbalances are caused by other factors, such as movement dysfunction, activity choices, prolonged static postures, footwear choices, surgeries and sedentary lifestyles. Many with common musculoskeletal imbalances do not need physical therapy, whereby corrective exercise is evolving to fill the gap in care. The use of musculoskeletal assessments, self-myofascial release, restorative stretching, and corrective strengthening exercises in health and fitness settings is fast becoming commonplace to help remedy and relieve muscle & joint discomfort and pain.

As a Corrective Exercise Specialist Laura’s skill set is focused on addressing the body as a whole and identifying underlying causes of chronic pain not just the symptoms and help prevent the body from breaking down in the future. A sequenced method of structural assessments, myofascial release techniques, stretching, body centering and corrective exercises are applied. The benefits of this training can result in not only the elimination of pain, but lead to a reduction in stress and improvement in active performance and functional daily living.

Beginning on Sunday and throughout the week each class will incorporate movement and usable information. We will focus on different zones of the body using several of the techniques mentioned above in order to give participants more structural awareness, pain alleviating “hacks”, and corrective exercises to be able to easily replicate at home. Friday’s class will wrap everything up, ending your week with an energized feeling, full of vitality – moving more functionally and feeling GREAT!

Laura Gideon M.S. CPT, CES – Is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist, Certified Pilates Practitioner and Workshop Presenter. She has been involved in the fitness/health/wellness industry since 1981 and is a Two Time Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year Top Finalist from The Biomechanics Method global certifying organization. Her signature “Myofascial Roll, Release & Mobilize classes” are geared toward “Hands-off self-treatment” to help clients eliminate pain, stiffness and discomfort and help create more postural alignment awareness and body sense helping correct compensatory movement patterns. A great “adjunct” therapy to any exercise regime and functional daily movement activity. Laura enjoys educating her clients/students “beyond training” by teaching students “self-care” methods and how to advance performance in an injury free setting.

Clinical Fitness Assessment

Cardiorespiratory Fitness (CRF) level is the strongest predictor of all-cause and disease-specific mortality.  CRF is related to functional capacity, human performance, and metabolic efficiency. In other words, your CRF level sheds light on how well you can perform in a variety of physical activities and how well you are able to burn the calories you consume.

The RLP Clinical Fitness Assessment includes two 30 minutes sessions with Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Jody Miller, during your week at the Ranch. During session one, Body Composition and Aerobic Capacity are assessed.

Body Composition is assessed using the skinfold caliper method with measures taken at several sites on the body (thigh, triceps, subscapular, supra-iliac and abdomen).

Aerobic Capacity (METS) is assessed using a sub-maximal cycling protocol. Guests ride a Schwinn AirDyne to a predetermined target heart rate. Heart rate and blood pressure are monitored.

During session two, a summary of your results will be reviewed, and personalized recommendations will be provided.

Appointments are available:
Mondays & Wednesdays 8:30 – 1:00pm
Tuesdays & Thursdays 11:30am – 4:00pm

Please call the Appointments Desk to schedule your Clinical Fitness Assessment.

Two Session Assessment (in person at the Ranch) – $235.00
Two Session Assessment plus five 30 minute virtual follow up/coaching sessions (to be scheduled within six months of your Ranch visit) – $835.00

Jody Miller, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist will provide both the Assessment and Coaching Follow up. Inner Fitness: Bigger, Better, Braver

Is there something you’d love to do but haven’t found the courage? Do you want to give yourself over to the fullest possible experience of living?

Bigger, Better, Braver is a five-step journey to find the answers, beginning with listening to the quiet voice inside your head, urging: you want more for your life. Living big is its own reward. The “bigger” is your definition and yours alone, a declaration to the Universe you are worthy and ready to take advantage of the great life you’ve been given.

Each of the five lessons offers you tools and a deeper understanding of who you are and what has stood in your way.

Session 1
Why live Bigger?
We enter this world ready to be anything and everything. Little by little, however, we shut parts of ourselves away, and as adults we continue to listen to the inner critic who no longer serves us. It is the voice that says: “play small to stay safe,” or “we aren’t good enough” or we need to “control everything to stay safe.”

We are meant to play all out and own all our qualities, the good and the bad, so we can be emotionally whole. I will help you uncover the disempowering belief that is keeping you from living the life of your dreams.

Session 2
Incompletions
When you get out of auto pilot and take an honest look at your life, you can discover what’s holding you back, weighing you down, and robbing you of your agility. We call these “incompletions.”

Incompletions are actions we haven’t taken in the past that create a barrier in the present. They are the stuff we’re still carrying with us we’ve not put to rest. Incompletions drain us, and/or we use them to beat ourselves up.

You’ll look at how incompletions show up in your life, externally and internally, and what you can do to turn them in to completions.

Session 3
Unconscious Commitments are the Saboteurs of our Dreams
You can stop wondering why your life doesn’t look like you want it to. The secret is that you get what you are most committed to. In our childhood, you made promises to yourself that are buried in your subconscious. They were formed to keep you safe but as an adult keeps you small. When you aren’t getting what you think you want, you need to uncover the outdated early commitment in your subconscious. In this session, you will uncover your disempowering commitment and replace it with a new empowering one that supports your leap to a bigger, better, braver life.

Session 4
The How and Why of Self-Sabotage
Before you can dig in fully to creating the vision you uncovered, you need to shine a light on self-sabotage and empower yourself to be your best self. You need to understand the pattern of your thoughts and emotions that lead to your behaviors, so you can learn the tools to recognize your personal brand of sabotage and how you can stop it before it escalates.  To have rewarding careers if you want, fulfilling relationships, better health, better body, whatever else will bring you happiness and satisfaction; you need to understand the how and why of your sabotage.

Session 5
Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries
Are you a people pleaser and/or over-giver?  Do you say “Yes” when you want to say “NO”? We’ll be exploring how setting and maintaining boundaries will support you in creating a life in alignment with what is true for you. You’ll learn to discover and dissolve whatever stands in the way of making yourself a priority. Boundaries support you in carefully choosing and consciously curating the content of your life.

Nancy Pickard is a Certified Integrative Coach through The Ford Institute for Transformational Training and the Levin Life Coach Academy. Inner Fitness: Design Your Life

Choose Your Perspective
Sometimes we feel like is happening to us and we have no choice about our day to day experience. We feel powerless and overwhelmed. In reality, however, we are creating our lives in each and every moment through the way we view or experiences and the choices we make. When we are at choice, we create an experience of being fully alive, empowered and free.

Thoughts Matter
We can say such mean things to ourselves; things we would never say to a friend or loved one! Our inner dialog really matters because our thoughts impact our feelings and our feelings guide our actions. When we are able to shift negative thought patterns to ones that are loving and nurturing, we can slay our inner critic and ignite our life in exciting new ways.

Emotional Fluency
So often, we shove our emotions aside or stuff them deep inside. Yet, our emotions are a window into our truth and having access to a full range of emotions is an important part of  living a powerful and deeply satisfying life. When we develop emotional fluency,  we are able to navigate our emotional world with greater ease and bring greater energy and resonance to the whole of our life.

Know Your Values
Our personal values represent our unique and individual essence and serve as a compass for how to be true to ourselves. When we honor our values, life is rich and fulfilling. Knowing and honoring our personal values is key to building self-worth, self-confidence and becoming the authors of our own life story.

Create Your Best Life
Taking ownership of our life story is a critical part of creating a life that we love and, just like we plan our finances and design our homes, we can design a life that we love.  Giving voice to our deepest longings can point us and conscious action can guide us in manifesting our best life, one that is rich with fulfillment, balance, self-expression and joy!

The New Science of Wellbeing

The goal of these presentations is to explain what modern psychology, biology, and neuroscience tell us about how to increase our well-being in this complicated world. More and more, current research science and medical practice are turning to ancient practices like yoga and meditation to increase well-being. When we understand the underlying components of these practices and how they fit our psychological and biological needs, we can use them more effectively and benefit more from them.  Each class will present fascinating insights on one ancient practice each session.

Session-By-Session Breakdown:

Session 1: Eastern philosophy was first used as a medical treatment in the US in the 1970s for treatment-resistant chronic pain. It is now seen in a range of therapies for mental and physical health. The active components of Eastern philosophy that appear in increasingly common therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy will be discussed in detail, along with experiential exercises that demonstrate the impact.

Session 2: Mindfulness has become a buzz word in our modern culture, with promises of benefits to almost every problem. We will explore the actual practice, why it works, and what the science, brain scans, and clinical practice actually say about it. The presenter’s clinical work will be used as stories and examples of the practice in healthcare.

Session 3: Compassion Meditation is an ancient practice that we now increasingly understand how to use effectively. This session with explain the history and variations of compassion meditation traditions across cultures, define the experience of compassion vs. empathy, and explore the science about how these meditation techniques impact physical health and mental health, including information about this presenter’s own research.

GYROKINESIS®

GYROKINESIS® exercise is a complete movement system, for all levels and ages, and can be applied to a variety of situations, as one needs very little equipment. It incorporates many key principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics and Tai Chi. The class begins with the practitioner seated on a low stool and begins with simple breathing patterns to awaken the body. He or she mobilizes the spine and joints through a series of arching, curling and spiraling movements. The corresponding breathing patterns in every movement help to stimulate the nervous system and open up energy pathways. Rhythm, movement, & breath are the key elements of this system accessible for all fitness levels.

Adriana Reid was born and raised in Mexico City and has resided in San Diego, CA since 2008. She has an MBA in Education, specialized in Family Counseling and Human Software Engineering. After years of bouncing around in a survival mode to provide emotionally and financially for her 3 sons as a single mother, she is now privileged to be focused on her heart’s passion as the founder of Be2Be-Coaching, Inc. dedicated to helping humans live their lives in a fulfilling and easier way.

In her background there are a lot of hours dedicated to families, helping children and adults overcome crisises and difficult situations by teaching them emotional self-sufficiency practices and techniques that she gathered along the way on her own healing journey. Among her favorites are, the pioneering field of Human Software Engineering which helps her understand and resolve blockages at the pre-verbal stages of human conditioning; probably the most important piece is that it determines the skills and abilities we have to resolve our inner conflicts and excel in life.

Be2Be-Coaching principles -decode, recode, and reprogram, are directed to help clients find blockages, provide effective resolution to problems and/or challenges, regardless of the circumstances, and allow them to gain their power back to co-create and manifest their heartfelt desires.
