TV Comedy: Creating Hit Sitcoms
How does a sitcom develop from idea to production to a hit on the air? This talk reveals the behind the scenes stories of how your favorite TV comedies were created. Learn from a former TV executive who has worked at three different studios on many hit shows and now manages successful comedy writers for television. 

Writing TV Comedy

 

Shelly Aronson manages comedy writers for television who have worked on The Big Bang Theory, The Neighborhood, Pivoting, B Positive, Stuck in the Middle and the original Murphy Brown and Night Court just to name a few.  She is a former Director of Comedy Development at Warner Bros, VP of 20th TV, and Director of Creative Affairs at HBO Independent Productions where she worked on the hit CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. In her ten years as a studio executive at three different studios, she worked on hundreds of comedy episodes and has a great understanding of how television shows are created and developed into a hit.  She also has taught Comedy Development for Television at UCLA Extension and is a graduate of UCLA with a B.A. in Theater Arts.
