My Journey to Summer Calm
Summer at Rancho La Puerta is a season of golden light, blooming gardens, and sunny afternoons that invite you to slow down and savor each moment. But as much as I love feeling the sun on my skin, there comes a point when I know I’ve had enough. That’s why I booked the 85th Anniversary Soothing Treatment, and it was 85 minutes of hydrating calmness.
Walking into the spa that day, I felt a bit stressed and ready to hydrate after spending my days hiking, swimming, and soaking up the sun. The spa welcomed me with a cool glass of cucumber water, then led me into a quiet treatment room that smelled faintly of lavender and earth.
The experience began with me lying face down on the massage table as the therapist sprayed a soothing lavender mist lightly over my body. It was cool and fragrant, just the invitation I needed to relax.
Next came the Aloe Recovery Gel, smoothed onto my skin in gentle, cooling strokes. It was chilly at first, then warmed up as the therapist gently applied it. Turning onto my back, the therapist placed cool cucumber slices over my eyes, spritzed lavender mist again, and gently applied more aloe onto my legs and arms before cocooning me in warm sheets and a blanket. I felt like a baby swaddled in care and ready for a nap.
Then, one of my favorite parts, a mini facial. The therapist gently washed my face before applying a soothing gel mask and massaged my scalp while the mask hydrated my skin. Using a brightening Vitamin C serum and more lavender mist to refresh and awaken my face, I felt relaxed from head to toe.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, he moved to my feet, exfoliating them with a salt scrub and wrapping them in warm towels before massaging them with peppermint and tea tree lotion. It’s incredible how much stress my feet carry. Finally, he unwrapped me and rubbed a Rehydrating Lotion onto my skin, leaving it soft, nourished, and lightly scented with herbs and flowers.
The 85th Anniversary Soothing Treatment was exactly what I needed. My skin felt hydrated and refreshed. While not a massage, this treatment is a full body reset. It left me feeling calm and rejuvenated. I highly recommend it. It’s a lovely way to cool down, hydrate your skin, and re-energize during your stay at The Ranch this summer.
