Serve, Rally, Restore: Your Active Vacation Awaits
“At The Ranch, an active vacation is not about pushing harder, it’s about moving with purpose. Every hike, class, swim, and stretch is thoughtfully designed to reconnect you with your body, the land, and a sense of vitality that lasts well beyond your stay. Here, activity becomes restoration, challenge becomes empowerment, and every day invites you to feel stronger, more present, and more alive.”– Manuel Velasquaz, Fitness and Wellness Manager.
You know the feeling: you come home from a vacation and somehow need another one just to recover. You’re tired, overfed, a little dehydrated, and you’ve barely moved.
That doesn’t feel like a vacation. It’s just a change of scenery.
At Rancho La Puerta, the rhythm is different. You wake up in your casita as the sun hits the Baja mountains, and you choose the tempo. Maybe it’s a sunrise hike through wildflowers as the valley wakes up. Maybe it’s a slow morning with a farm-fresh breakfast before heading to the courts.
Either way, by midday, you’re moving, playing, and fully back in your own skin. This is the active vacation that brings you back to your center.
Pickleball: A Heartbeat of Activity
Here, pickleball isn’t an “add-on,” it’s part of our daily offerings. Our six courts are surrounded by gardens, greenery, and fresh air. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned regular, the courts are alive with clinics, private lessons, and open play. We provide the paddles and the balls; you just bring your court shoes and your game.
“Pickleball was the favorite part of my week! The instruction was great, I had so much fun, plus I met amazing people that I was able to play with.” -RLP guest March 2026.
Your Morning, Your Way
There is no “right” way to start a day at the Ranch.
- The Early Riser: Hit the hills. With 40 miles of groomed trails winding through the mountains, it’s the kind of start that wakes up your spirit as much as your muscles.
- The Slow Roller: Sleep in. Linger over a breakfast featuring fresh vegetables from our organic farm.

However you begin, you arrive at the courts feeling ready.
Take Your Game Further: Specialty & Pro Weeks

Afternoon: Recovery as a Performance Goal

Here is the Ranch secret: Recovery isn’t a break from the game, it’s what helps make the next game better. You can shift your focus through the day. You can trade the court for the yoga mat to release tightness and restore mobility. Want to trade your sneakers for the pool? Try Liquid Drum, a 45-minute aquatic workout that uses water resistance to keep your heart rate up while giving your joints a “weightless” break. Or, settle into a hammock in the shade for a well-earned siesta and listen to the breeze blow through the leaves.
Farm-to-Table Fuel
What you eat between matches is your “manual override” for energy. Our six-acre organic farm, Tres Estrellas, provides the foundation for every meal.
- Breakfast is your launchpad.
- Lunch is your recovery.
- Dinner is the celebration.
The conversations that start on the court always seem to finish over a shared plate of fresh, vibrant food. Look for the salsa bar if you want to add a little more kick to your plate or the protein bar if you want a bit more depth.
Come Any Week. Stay Longer Than You Planned.
You don’t need a special date or a certain skill level to find your rhythm here. You just need to arrive. The mountains are waiting, the courts are ready, and the lights stay on through dusk.
Somewhere between your first serve and your last lap in the pool, you’ll remember what it feels like to be fully alive.
