LifeCycle Swim School leaves no person behind, offering classes for all levels from non-swimmers to more experienced swimmers
SWIM READY – ADULT WATER ACCLIMATION FOR NON-SWIMMERS
Water acclimation for those who never learned to swim, and who may experience anxiety in and around water. We’ll leverage adult cognition and the science of swimming to help replace negative thoughts about water with feelings of relaxation and comfortability. We’ll compassionately guide you to experiment with breath control, floating and gliding, building your confidence one step at a time. No matter why one hasn’t learned to swim, it’s never too late.
AMP UP AQUATIC CONFIDENCE WITH SURVIVAL SWIMMING SKILLS
Feel more confident in and around water by learning and practicing survival swimming skills. Learn a variety of techniques for treading, floating and restful swimming, and understand which skills to use in different situations. Learn how to smoothly link one self-rescue skill to the next, without panic.
THE SCIENCE OF SWIMMING FUNDAMENTALS
Unravel the mystery of graceful swimming by learning to leverage science for increased ease and efficiency. In this stroke development and refinement class, you’ll practice being mindful of hydrodynamics. Experience added buoyancy, reduced drag, and increased propulsion with less effort. You’ll learn optimum body positions, arm movements, and rhythmic breathing that can be incorporated into every stroke. Be ready to challenge your muscle memory for an improved swimming experience. Skills will be progressive, with a focus on different strokes each day.
SwimFix® CLINICS
We’ll take a deep dive into the elements that create smooth and efficient freestyle and breaststroke. We’ll review core elements of each stroke, and work head-to-toe, breaking down all components. Learn and practice drills to help achieve effortless breathing, effective arm strokes and a kick that provides more propulsion and less drag.
CREATE A PERSONAL AQUATIC FITNESS PROGRAM
An aquatic workout should include warm-up, an aerobic set and/or a muscular development set, cool-down, and stretching. Learn safe and effective aquatic movements, techniques and drills for each phase of the work-out. Learn how to monitor your heart rate, and safely “overload” your system by controlling speed, types of strokes/movements.
Jennifer May is the founder/CEO of LifeCycle Swim School, a premium swim lesson provider in Montclair, NJ since 2015. Jennifer grew up competitive racing in Houston. In middle school she was ranked in Texas. By fourteen she quit, and swimming became something she “used to do.” Jen earned a B.A. in advertising from Boston University, and an M.A. from Simmons College. She forged a 30-year career in the footwear industry, leading product development teams – a creative job that took her around the world. Balancing career, family and happiness got complicated. Burnt out, she left, and to keep busy taught swimming at a YMCA. Jen soon realized the community was underserved in quantity and quality of swim lessons. Jen took Red Cross training, and developed proprietary curriculums for children and adults. LifeCycle Swim School emphasizes safety, confidence and form; and promotes an aquatic lifestyle for all ages and abilities so that more people can enjoy the physical and mental benefits of water.
