The Wisdom of ADHD: Managing Distraction & Maximizing Fun
Katherine Ellison, who won a Pulitzer Prize two years after nearly being fired amid a libel suit, has had a professional journey emblematic of someone with ADHD. Along the way, she has learned how to make the most of her strengths while laughing about the rest. Ellison will tell you her war stories (some literal) over a career spent reporting on four continents and teach you her tips for cultivating focus in a distracted world.
Two writing workshops: Cardio-writing
Cut the fat and add nutritious value to your prose! Join Katherine as she leads an impromptu writing group that will make everything you write more energetic and inspiring.
Katherine Ellison won a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting two years after surviving an $11 million libel lawsuit for a careless reporting error. Her roller-coaster career is an extreme example of what can happen when you have ADHD.
She was diagnosed with the disorder at age 48, on the heels of her elder son’s diagnosis at age 9, and frequently writes and speaks publicly about the disorder. She has written 12 non-fiction books, and freelances for media including the Washington Post. Her most recent book is the memoir, Mothers and Murderers: A True Story of Love, Lies, Obsession…and Second Chances.
