With the Music Inside

Guadalupe Villar will show us ancestral musical instruments and tell their stories. We will listen to some musical themes, and we will accompany them with percussion.
Jose Guadalupe Del Villar Soto was born in 1969 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. He comes from a family of artisans and traditional musicians.
His plastic art studies were with maestro Marcos Brambila and maestro Salvador Magaña. His work is permanently exhibited in churches and parishes in Baja California. He is currently a teacher of plastic arts in grade schools. As a musician, he has been part of the University of Baja California Renaissance Ensemble and the Corazón de Piedra Verde Ensemble. He is currently a member of the Tercer Raíz group of Tecate, Baja California, and is also a workshop leader at IMACTE (Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura de Tecate – Tecate’s Municipal Institute of Art and Culture) teaching Ukulele. As a Cultural Promoter, he has worked at ICBC (Instituto Cultural de Baja California – Baja California’s Cultural Institute) leading the Ancestral Music Workshop.
