Week of March 7, 2026

Our Bodies: Sacred Sites of Memory, Sanity and Joy

A 3-day (6-hour) Body Mapping workshop that offers art therapy and reflective practices focused on giving participants a new or renewed sense of their innate courage, strengths and capabilities. A potent and synergistic combination of drawing and related art play (no expertise expected or required!), reflective writing, active listening, storytelling, dance and drama seek to support participants in a seriously playful self-discovery process. Renown art therapist Gloria Simoneaux and Laura Beers  aim to weave a container that protects, liberates and disrupts habitual ways of thinking about our lived experience and the way it dwells in our bodies and minds.

Gloria Simoneaux is the founding director of Harambee Arts, an expressive arts organization and training program based in sub-Saharan Africa and Nepal. More than 45 years as a dedicated expressive arts therapist has led her to focus on supporting women and children who have been traumatized by crises including illness, autistic spectrum disorder, poverty, violence, natural disaster, incarceration and trafficking. She has a degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies, in addition to a BFA from The Cooper Union.
