Rooted in Beets: A 4-Ingredient Reset for Your Liver

At Rancho La Puerta, we see nourishment as both a daily habit and a guiding belief. It starts in the gut and supports every part of the body. Our focus is on whole, vibrant foods, but we also love fresh, cold-pressed juices for their ability to deliver nutrients in a simple, concentrated form. Juicing gives your digestive system a break while your body takes in what it needs.

At Tierra Alegre, our juice bar by the Activity Pool, we bring this idea to life with blends made to support your energy, recovery, and long-term health.

The Science of the Blend

One of our most popular juices is the Liver Lover. This bright, earthy drink acts as a reset for your system. Every ingredient is picked for how it helps the liver, which is one of the body’s key filters:

  • Beets: These are the base of the juice. They are full of antioxidants and natural nitrates, which help keep blood flowing well and support healthy blood pressure. Beets also have prebiotics that feed the gut microbiome, which links your digestion and immune system.
  • Green Apple: This adds balance. Its tart flavor lifts the taste and brings polyphenols that help your body fight oxidative stress.
  • Ginger: This ingredient adds warmth and supports your health. Ginger is great for circulation and breathing, and it acts as a natural tonic for your whole body.
  • Cucumber: Offers deep hydration to your cells. It gently helps your body cleanse itself, flush out toxins, and return to balance. It is both grounding and energizing. It isn’t about extremes; it’s about giving your body the high-quality tools it needs to function at its peak.

The Liver Lover Recipe

If you’re here at Rancho La Puerta, stop by Tierra Alegre to try it fresh. If you’re at home, you can easily make this “Joyous Earth” drink in your own kitchen.

  • 1 large beet (or 2–3 small)
  • ½ green apple (Granny Smith works best)
  • 2 inches of fresh ginger root
  • 1 small cucumber (or half if large)

Instructions: Put all the ingredients through a juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, blend everything with a little filtered water, then strain it through a fine cloth.

This recipe makes about 16 ounces. Pour yourself a glass, take a sip, and notice how you feel.
