A Sierra Valley Tribute to Ruth Anne Kocour

One of our presenters, musician Marshall Chapman, brings us the sad news of Ruth Anne Kocour’s passing, describing Ruth Anne as, “The most fearless woman I ever met.” Ruth Anne was a talented artist, writer, and world-renowned mountaineer. Marshall tells us that she and Ruth Anne became fast friends when they were both presenters at The Ranch over the Christmas holiday week in 2014.

Working with The Nature Conservancy and the Northern Sierra Partnership, Ruth Anne’s family and friends are helping to purchase and protect 1,320-acres in California’s pristine Carpenter Valley as a tribute to Ruth Anne.

Ruth Anne’s husband Bob explains, “A hiking trail system will be created…following the acquisition. And a new walking bridge will be constructed over Prosser Creek to anchor the trails. Funds contributed will pay for this beautiful bridge, which will be named in Ruth Anne’s honor.”
