Cooking Classes

Week of October 3, 2020

Kate Sherwood is the culinary director and executive chef of the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) in Washington, DC. She writes The Healthy Cook recipe page for CSPI’s monthly publication, Nutrition Action, and is the publication’s culinary editor. Kate has lived in or traveled to (and, of course, has eaten in) more than 30 countries. Her deep understanding of so many cuisines helps explain why her dishes are so intensely flavored without the need for excess salt. Kate has taught healthy cooking at the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, and was the keynote speaker at the Food Bank’s TedX Food event. She was also a featured speaker at the 2014 Hunger Summit, and has been featured in the Washington Post. Kate gives healthy cooking lectures and cooking demos at the destination spa Rancho la Puerta and at George Washington University Medical School. Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, Kate has worked as a food stylist at The Food Network, Discovery, “The Today Show,” and Martha Stewart.

Kate Sherwood will also teach,
The Healthy Cook’s Kitchen: Food Habits to Take Home

I’m a chef on a mission: to teach people how to turn healthy ingredients into the tastiest dishes. You’ll learn:

  • How to prepare great-tasting vegetables, quick and satisfying whole grains, and savory beans and lentils.
  • How to find the best proteins for you and the planet. How to calculate the right amount of healthy protein for you.
  • Tips on how to eat less of the bad stuff – sugar, salt, refined carbs – while still loving every meal.

We offer a 3.5-hour-long demo class on Tuesdays at 4:00PM for $95.00 + tax. For more information and registration, please click here.
