Week of September 17, 2022
Join us for a conversation about CSPI’s vision for a healthier, more equitable food system. Bring your questions about nutrition policy, food safety, and dietary health.
Jane Welna works with the Center for Science in the Public Interest alongside a team of scientists, advocates, and attorneys who are engaging communities nationwide to secure food policies and practices that will make us healthier as individuals and more resilient as a nation.
As a parent, Jane volunteered as board chair for Healthy School Foods Maryland, promoting stronger nutrition standards at one of the largest and racially/economically diverse school districts in the nation. She helped successfully remove artificial food dyes and other harmful additives from school meals and vending machines. Previously, Jane worked at Downtown Community Television Center in New York City and served as Executive Director at the documentary photography cooperative Impact Visuals. She graduated from Carleton College with a degree in Art History.
She enjoys being part of a team that is cleaning up the food system. It is especially rewarding to share news with partners and supporters of our successes in making our food environment safer, more nutritious, and just.
