New Moon, New You?

The new moon occurs when the moon is in conjunction with the sun and is not visible in the sky.  This is a time for mindfulness and beginning new projects, it’s a time for quiet, introspective, and reflectiveness. The Ranch offers three classes specific to the new moon and full moon, respectively.

New Moon Meditation Class focuses on setting intentions and planting seeds for new beginnings. It’s an opportunity to set an intention for what you want to manifest or create. It can be something small or big, personal, or professional. Regular practice of new moon meditation can help you to connect with your inner self and bring clarity to your desires and aspirations.

The Labyrinth is a symbolic path that leads to the center, representing a journey inward to connect with the self and the divine. The new moon energy is associated with new beginnings, making it an ideal time for manifesting new goals with intentions in mind. As you walk the labyrinth, allow yourself to move at your own pace and breathe deeply. Focus on your intention and allow any thoughts or emotions to come and go without judgment. When you reach the center of the labyrinth, pause for a few moments to reflect on your intention and connect with your inner self and the divine. The walk is intended to help bring clarity into your life.

The New Moon Yoga class focuses on cultivating inner stillness, self-reflection, and grounding through slow and gentle practices such as Yin Yoga or Restorative Yoga. It is also an excellent time to focus on pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation.

On the other hand, during the full moon, when the moon is at its brightest and most whole in the sky, the energy is vibrant, expansive, and outwardly expressive. This is a time for celebration, manifestation, and completion of projects. Regarding yoga practice, the focus can be on more dynamic and energizing methods.  It is also a good time to practice heart-opening postures and meditations to cultivate gratitude and joy.

Ultimately, whether you choose to practice yoga during the new moon or full moon, it is key to tune in to your own body and energy levels and adapt your practice accordingly.
