DIY Cinnamon and Clove Shower Hanger

Nothing smells as inviting and comforting as cinnamon and cloves during the holiday season. That scent greeted me as a kid approaching my grandma’s front door, filling the air with the promise of warmth, love, and holiday magic. It meant there was baking happening inside—Grandma’s special blend of sweet treats and holiday goodies—and, of course, Grandma herself, wearing her apron, answering the door with open arms. That aroma wasn’t just a smell but the feeling of being loved, cherished, and truly at home.

If you want to bring that same feeling of an open arm, embrace, and warmth into your daily routine, a DIY Cinnamon and Clove Aromatherapy Shower Hanger is a great solution! This easy, aromatic addition fills your shower with the scents of cinnamon and clove, creating a calming, holiday-inspired experience that brings back those cherished seasonal memories while inviting relaxation. Here’s how to make your own and start each day with a splash of the holidays!

Materials

4-5 fresh cinnamon sticks

A handful of whole cloves** (optional)

Small muslin or organza bag** (for holding cloves, if using)

Twine or natural cotton string, 12 – 18 inches

-Sprigs of fresh rosemary, pine, or eucalyptus (optional for added greenery and scent)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cinnamon Sticks

Start by bundling 4-5 cinnamon sticks together in a small cluster. The cinnamon sticks will be the heart of your shower hanger, releasing a warm, comforting aroma with each shower.

2. Add the Cloves (Optional)

Add whole cloves for an extra layer of scent. To keep them tidy, place the cloves in a small muslin or organza bag, which can be tucked into the bundle. This allows the cloves to release their aroma without scattering.

3. Include Greenery for Freshness (Optional)

If you’d like a fresh twist, include rosemary, pine, or eucalyptus sprigs in your bundle. These plants add a beautiful touch of green and bring their refreshing scents to the mix, complementing the spices.

4. Secure with Twine

Wrap the twine or cotton string around the cinnamon sticks (and greenery, if using), tying it securely. Leave a small loop at the top so you can easily hang it in the shower.

5. Hang in Your Shower

Now comes the fun part! Hang your bundle from your showerhead or a hook close enough for the steam to reach it. Be mindful to keep it out of direct water flow; you want the steam, not the water, to release the beautiful scent.

It’s like a holiday wreath for your shower—bringing the cozy, comforting scents of cinnamon and clove into your daily routine.
