Strong Now. Strong Later. Discover the Longevity Track

At Rancho La Puerta, longevity has always been part of our philosophy. Since 1940, we’ve believed that the way we age depends on how we live—how we move, eat, rest, connect, and care for ourselves every day.

The Longevity Track brings this philosophy to life. It’s one reason guests have chosen The Ranch for generations. With classes in strength, cardio, mobility, and balance, plus the skills to keep you motivated at home, you’ll build the strength, flexibility, and confidence to thrive for years to come.

The Longevity Track includes:

·      Longevity: Strength Training

·      Longevity Cardio Lab: From Zone 2 to HIIT

·      Longevity: Dynamic Mobility

·      Longevity: Balance & Coordination

·      Longevity Lecture: How to Own Your Aging Process

·      Longevity Lecture: Planning Your Home Practice

“Exercise is one of the few interventions that positively influence nearly every system of our bodies. When movement is purposeful and consistent, it helps us preserve strength, mobility, balance, cognitive function, and the confidence to live life fully. That’s why we identify these experiences as Longevity classes. They are an investment in your future self.” — Manuel Velazquez, Fitness Director.

Why Strength Training Matters

Research shows that how we move has a big impact on how we age. Strength training is one of the best ways to support a longer, healthier life. Regular resistance exercises help your bones, blood sugar, metabolism, and mind, and keep you active and independent for decades.

“Muscle is an organ and is responsible for metabolizing the food we eat into the energy that fuels all our cells. Simply put, the more muscle we have, the healthier we are. The only way to add muscle is through strength training.” — Pete McCall.

This approach has been at the heart of The Ranch since 1940.

The Longevity Track turns this science into action. Each class focuses on a key part of healthy aging: strength, mobility, endurance, balance, and the mindset to keep it going at home. Together, these classes help you build a strong foundation for the future.

All our classes support your long-term health, but the ones below are part of our Longevity Track. These focus directly on the five pillars: strength, mobility, endurance, balance, and mindset.

Longevity Lecture: How to Own Your Aging Process

Lifespan is about how long you live. Health span is about how well you live. In this lecture, you’ll learn what affects longevity, how The Ranch’s programs support your vitality, and which habits will matter most when you return home.

Longevity: Strength Training

Muscle does more than make you strong. It supports your metabolism, energy, stability, and overall health. In this class, you’ll learn basic movement patterns to build lean muscle, strengthen your bones, and help you stay healthy longer.

By practicing squats, hinges, presses, and other resistance moves, this class helps you gain strength, coordination, and confidence that lasts long after your week at The Ranch.

“Dynamic Mobility goes beyond simple stretching — it improves range of motion and joint control, supporting healthy aging through better balance and coordination.” — Kim Sol Todd.

Longevity: Dynamic Mobility

Start feeling better in your body right away. This class combines movement-based stretching, full-range functional exercises, and natural self-myofascial release to ease stiffness, protect your joints, and help you move more freely.

“Age-predicted heart rate zones are just guesses. In Cardio Lab, we help you recognize what each training zone feels like in your own body.” — Pete McCall.

Longevity Cardio Lab: From Zone 2 to HIIT

Your mitochondria, the energy centers in your cells, respond to how you train. In this class, you’ll learn to find and work within your own Zone 2 intensity, building the aerobic base that supports lasting health, energy, and resilience. It’s science-backed, sustainable, and fits real life.

“We’re throwing you off balance on purpose, so you react faster, recover faster, and reinforce the functional movement that prevents falls. This work is personal — my father’s falls in his later years could have been reduced with training like this.” — Dana Baptiste.

Longevity: Balance & Coordination

Stability, coordination, and body awareness are often overlooked but are some of the most important parts of healthy aging. This class combines balance training, breathwork, and mindful movement to help you feel more grounded and present in your body.

Longevity Lecture: Planning Your Home Practice

A week at The Ranch can change how you feel, but this session helps you make lasting changes in your life. You’ll explore mindset, self-talk, and how to create a home practice that keeps you feeling your best long after you leave.

Longevity doesn’t come from just one class or one week. It grows from the choices you make every day, and The Ranch is here to support you on that journey, time after time.
