An Evening with Concert Pianist and Author in The Children of Willesden Lane

Join American concert pianist and author Mona Golabek, star of acclaimed theatrical production “ The Pianist of Willesden Lane” when she shares the inspirational story of her mother, Lisa Jura, based on the best-selling book, The Children of Willesden Lane soon to be a major feature film. Through music and acting, Mona tells the inspiring story of her mother’s experience on the Kindertransport, her life in a foster home in London with 30 other Jewish refugee students, her commitment to her musical studies, and the eventual realization of her dream of becoming a concert pianist. Her performance has been acclaimed by critics and audiences across America, with recent sold out theatrical runs in New York and London. Ms. Golabek has received Best Actress Nominations from the New York and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.

“I tell my mother’s story because I believe one story, one dream, can change our lives and help us achieve the highest values within ourselves. I hope that everyone who has a dream will never forget that his or her passion and courage can overcome all obstacles. We have it within ourselves to inspire others and to make this a better world. “

Author, recording artist, and internationally renowned concert pianist Mona Golabek learned to play the piano from her mother, Holocaust survivor Lisa Jura. Those piano lessons were deeply meaningful as Mona learned the story of her mother’s struggles as a young Jewish refugee in WW2 who held onto her dream of becoming a pianist.

As a result of those early piano lessons, Mona chose a singular path in life. She has used her gifts as a musician and storyteller to create a groundbreaking educational initiative to inspire students, readers, and audiences far and wide.

In 2002, she published The Children of Willesden Lane. The book, which tells the story of her mother, has been translated in a dozen languages.

In 2012, Mona made her stage debut in The Pianist of Willesden Lane, adapted from the book. The production has been celebrated by critics and audiences with sold out theatrical runs in New York, London, and many other cities. Mona has received Best Actress nominations from the New York Drama Desk and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. A Grammy nominee, Mona is a prolific recording artist and has been the subject of several PBS documentaries including Concerto for Mona with conductor Zubin Mehta. Her discography includes the best-selling Carnival of the Animals and Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, both recorded with her sister Renee and receiving Grammy nominations.

In 2002, Mona formed the Hold On To Your Music Foundation with the help of the Milken Family Foundation, Facing History and Ourselves, and the Annenberg Foundation. Its mission is to foster hope through the power of storytelling and music and embolden the human spirit in the face of adversity.

Her foundation partners with several renowned educational organizations including the USC Shoah Foundation and Discovery Education, and has created The Willesden Project which brings her mother’s story to students and communities across the globe. More than ten million students, readers, and audience goers have experienced the inspirational message of “Willesden Lane”.

Clinical Fitness Assessment

Cardiorespiratory Fitness (CRF) level is the strongest predictor of all-cause and disease-specific mortality.  CRF is related to functional capacity, human performance, and metabolic efficiency. In other words, your CRF level sheds light on how well you can perform in a variety of physical activities and how well you are able to burn the calories you consume.

The RLP Clinical Fitness Assessment includes two 30 minutes sessions with Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Jody Miller, during your week at the Ranch. During session one, Body Composition and Aerobic Capacity are assessed.

Body Composition is assessed using the skinfold caliper method with measures taken at several sites on the body (thigh, triceps, subscapular, supra-iliac and abdomen).

Choose Love! The Inner Fitness Program, with Emily Boorstein

The Inner Fitness program is designed for accelerated transformation and awakening from the “Inside-Out”.  It is a comprehensive and practical program for people seeking to heal old wounds, navigate life with greater ease, learn to feel and communicate effectively, improve personal and professional relationships, cultivate inner peace, and manifest their uniquely authentic, fulfilling and joyous life.  And, Inner Fitness is fun!

Lesson 1: Change Your Mind
Yes, it’s possible to change our mind! And by change, I mean transform. We have a most incredible power to choose the way we see, interpret and respond to our life’s circumstances. Imagine putting on a whole new lens that quiets our well worn harmful patterns of thoughts and behaviors and allows us to see and respond with clarity and wisdom.

Lesson 1 focuses on self-awareness and cultivating the skill to shift from living in the default paradigm of fear and scarcity to living from wisdom, truth and love.

Lesson 2: Healthy Inner Dialogue
Do you ever wonder who’s doing all that chatting in our minds, and even more importantly, which voice we put in the drivers seat of our lives?  We are multi-dimensional beings with multiple voices expressing their opinions and directing our actions.  Sometimes it’s our wounded child or adolescent trying to express their hurt and anger, or our critical parent wagging its finger in judgement and shame.

Lesson 2 focuses on recognizing the various voices within and cultivating the voice of the Nurturing Parent who helps us navigate and respond to our inner world of thoughts and feelings and shows us how to live from our wise adult self so we can best respond to the challenges and circumstances of our life.

Lesson 3: Permission to Feel
Having access to our full range of emotions, and cultivating the skill to feel them instead of stuffing or bypassing them, is vital to living our most authentic, powerful and satisfying life.  When we know how to feel our emotions, and have the skills to express and communicate them responsibly, we feel more grounded, whole and connected to ourselves and others!

Lesson 3 focuses on understanding the world of emotions and the important role they play in almost every aspect of our life.  Come learn how to feel, navigate and honor your emotions with your greatest wisdom and highest intention.  You will feel better!

Lesson 4: The Joy of Responsibility
Have you ever noticed that we often play the same ‘victim’ story in our mind over and over again, and that we keep reacting to our life from that story, often in repetitive negative behaviors?  We get stuck in false emotions like blame, guilt and resentment; feeling powerless to make positive changes?

Lesson 4 focuses on recognizing our own patterns of thoughts and behaviors that hold us back from realizing our greatest sense of self and achieving our dreams.  Radical responsibility means seeing ourselves clearly, our strengths and our weaknesses, and taking full ownership of the impact we have on ourselves and others, both positive and negative. It’s our ticket to more freedom and joy!

Lesson 5:  Create and Manifest Your Best Life

We are always creating and manifesting our life, whether consciously or unconsciously!  Our life is a reflection of our inner world of thoughts, feelings, beliefs, attitudes, choices and decisions!  These are our raw materials that make up our life story and circumstances.

Lesson 5 focuses on re-aligning our raw materials to reflect our most authentic, powerful, and loving version of ourself to consciously create and manifest our deepest desires and sweetest life. Nothing changes until you do!

Remember, you are miraculous!

And may all your dreams come true.

Inner Fitness: Design Your Life

Choose Your Perspective
Sometimes we feel like is happening to us and we have no choice about our day to day experience. We feel powerless and overwhelmed. In reality, however, we are creating our lives in each and every moment through the way we view or experiences and the choices we make. When we are at choice, we create an experience of being fully alive, empowered and free.

Thoughts Matter
We can say such mean things to ourselves; things we would never say to a friend or loved one! Our inner dialog really matters because our thoughts impact our feelings and our feelings guide our actions. When we are able to shift negative thought patterns to ones that are loving and nurturing, we can slay our inner critic and ignite our life in exciting new ways.

Emotional Fluency
So often, we shove our emotions aside or stuff them deep inside. Yet, our emotions are a window into our truth and having access to a full range of emotions is an important part of  living a powerful and deeply satisfying life. When we develop emotional fluency,  we are able to navigate our emotional world with greater ease and bring greater energy and resonance to the whole of our life.

Know Your Values
Our personal values represent our unique and individual essence and serve as a compass for how to be true to ourselves. When we honor our values, life is rich and fulfilling. Knowing and honoring our personal values is key to building self-worth, self-confidence and becoming the authors of our own life story.

Create Your Best Life
Taking ownership of our life story is a critical part of creating a life that we love and, just like we plan our finances and design our homes, we can design a life that we love.  Giving voice to our deepest longings can point us and conscious action can guide us in manifesting our best life, one that is rich with fulfillment, balance, self-expression and joy!

Richard Rudis has been a student of Buddhist philosophy for nearly thirty years and is an American practitioner of the Tibetan ‘Vajrayana’ school.

As a long-time pilgrim of Himalayan sacred sites he has received Buddhist teachings and traditional instructions/research into the use of sacred sound instruments for ritual and healing purposes. While in Tibet in 1996 he was granted refuge in the Buddha via His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa (17th reincarnation and head of the Kagyu lineage). His Holiness renamed him Sonam Dorje; (Meritorious Thunderbolt).

Richard has been teaching the Buddhist Dharma of Vibrational Healing across the U.S. and abroad for twenty years and is considered most knowledgeable in this esoteric field. His unique playing craftsmanship is a fusion of his rarefied studies in sacred sound playing techniques, tantric education, engineering background and Buddhist principles. Principally using a tuned ‘Paiste’ Earth Gong he creates a ‘Sound Mandala’, known as a ‘Gong Bath™, that is naturally physically, emotionally and spiritually healing. He is often a prominent speaker/presenter at various conferences having to do with transformative energy, healing, meditation and well being.

He began teaching via the establishment of the ‘Sacred Sound Workshops’ in the 1990’s formalizing the curriculum by joining with the ‘Tibetan Bowl Healing School’  (www.tibetanbowlschool.com) in 2008.
