Where were you raised?

I was raised in Tecate, Baja California.

You’re a lawyer, a baker, and a fitness coach; how did you land at The Ranch?

Well, I’m a lawyer, high school teacher, fitness instructor, and most recently, a baker. I describe my journey as a “happy accident.” In my mid-twenties, while working tirelessly, I started teaching fitness classes at The Ranch to the local staff. Barry, the fitness manager at the time, noticed my classes and invited me to teach the guests as well. I took a six-month sabbatical and paused my law practice and teaching at the high school to work full-time at The Ranch. When the six months were over, I decided not to return to my “real life,” (yes, I quit my other jobs). I found joy in teaching fitness and helping people become healthier, and here I am, 12 years later.

You’re the head of Strength Training at The Ranch. What does that mean, and what are your responsibilities?

I’m responsible for the strength department, overseeing strength classes, equipment, designing new classes, training, and supervising guest instructors. Essentially, I handle all the needs of the department.

Do you have a guiding principle or philosophy that informs your teaching?

With my teaching background, I believe everyone learns differently and has unique exercise goals. Therefore, I tailor each class to different ways and levels, ensuring everyone has a great experience.

What, in your opinion, constitutes a holistic approach to wellness, and how does it align with your teaching style?

Holistic wellness, for me, means being well in all aspects of life—physically, spiritually, and mentally. I see these aspects not as separate but as a whole. I structure my classes around this philosophy.

Are there specific aspects of The Ranch, whether it’s a particular location or class, that personally resonate with you, and if so, why?

When I first came to The Ranch, I was going through a challenging phase in my life. Hiking on the mountain helped me a lot, providing time for reflection. My favorite place at The Ranch is the hammocks next to the main lounge—a serene spot where I can relax and meditate, surrounded by trees and tranquility.

Is there a personal message, quote, or insight about yourself you’d like to share?

My mom always told me to give my best and strive to be the best, regardless of what I do. I continue to learn and improve, not just professionally but also as a human being. So, please be patient with me as I’m learning and trying to be better.
